IU Health Hospital
Campus LowVoltage Infrastructure Project
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Electric Plus is providing full low-voltage services across IU Health’s expansive 44-acre hospital campus, supporting a next-generation healthcare environment built on resilient connectivity, LifeSafety systems, and an enterprise-level communication backbone. This project expands beyond the main hospital towers and delivers robust pathways, security technology, and emergency response systems to multiple interconnected buildings.
DuraLine Microduct Infrastructure & BlownFiber Pathways
To enable high-capacity, future-ready data transport across the entire medical campus, Electric Plus installed a comprehensive DuraLine microduct system throughout hospital grounds. These underground and building-to-building routes form protected, scalable conduits that support:
- Air blown fiber installation between structures
- High bandwidth connectivity across clinical, administrative, and support facilities
- Long-term expandability without excavation or major disruption
This approach mirrors the hospital’s core technology strategy, which relies on microduct + airblown fiber connections for rapid scalability and secure, low-latency performance throughout its network architecture.
Fiber Connectivity to Multiple Campus Buildings & LifeSafety Points
The blownfiber system provides dedicated, high-reliability pathways to:
- Medical office buildings
- Support structures
- Technology hubs
- Facility operations areas
- Code Blue emergency stations positioned strategically across the campus
These fiber routes ensure emergency communications remain fast, redundant, and uninterrupted.
Security System Enhancements
Electric Plus expanded the hospital’s safety posture across the entire outdoor and interbuilding footprint by installing:
- New security cameras connected back to the core IDF/MDF infrastructure
- Fiber-backed video transport supporting real-time monitoring
- Site-wide surveillance coverage supporting hospital security teams
These additions tie directly into the hospital’s existing low-voltage and fiber backbone network.
Wireless Network Deployment
To ensure strong, campuswide connectivity, Electric Plus installed:
- Outdoor and building-mounted wireless access points (WAPs)
- Coverage supporting clinical mobility, guest access, facilities operations, and emergency service communication
These systems are fed through the same ducted fiber pathways, ensuring performance consistency across the entire property.
Code Blue Emergency Stations
As part of the LifeSafety expansion, Electric Plus installed Code Blue emergency stations that integrate into the blownfiber network, providing:
- Immediate communication access
- Network redundancy through microduct-protected pathways
- Reliable connection to emergency response teams
These stations are essential for outdoor and campus movement safety.
